Where I am coming from
I used to be on the other side of the application. As a recruiter I read CVs in bulk and decided which ones went forward. As a career coach I worked with people on the other end of that decision. Having done both is what convinced me that most CV advice online is written by people who have done neither.
These days I run Verida Group LLC, a small independent software company registered in Tbilisi, Georgia, and JobShaped is its product. So the guides here are written from two directions at once: what I saw when I was the one screening, and what I see now in a tool that reshapes CVs all day.
What I write about
CVs, and the parts of job hunting that turn out to be folklore: what applicant tracking systems actually do, which widely repeated statistics have no source anyone can find, what résumé builders charge once you reach the download button, and how to present a career that does not run in a straight line.
Every claim in these guides is one of three things: something I can source and link, something I saw first-hand recruiting, or something I can show you from the tool. Where a number is repeated everywhere and I cannot trace it to anything, I say that rather than repeat it too.
What I will not do is tell you what a particular hiring manager at a particular company is thinking. Having been one of the people reading the pile, I can tell you how the pile gets read. Anyone promising more certainty than that is selling you something.
